About the event

What is Move for the House?

add remove

Move for the House is a month long movement challenge that brings people together to raise vital funds for families with an ill or injured child.

Designed to be inclusive and flexible, it invites individuals, teams and workplaces to move in their own way while making a meaningful difference.

All funds raised support the services provided by Ronald McDonald House Australia, helping put families at the heart of care and ensuring they have access to accommodation, support and connection throughout their child’s healthcare journey.

When is Move for the House?

Do I have to move for a set time each day?

add remove

No, you do not need to complete your movement in one block.

You can break it up throughout the day in a way that suits you, whether that is a short walk in the morning, some activity in the afternoon, or movement in the evening. Every move counts and helps families stay together, when their child needs them most.

Can I choose any type of movement?

add remove

Absolutely. You can move in whatever way works for you.

Whether it is walking, running, cycling, swimming or something completely different, it is all about moving in a way that suits your lifestyle and helps put families at the heart of care.

You might even use this as a chance to try something new or mix things up throughout the month.

If you are looking for inspiration, we will be sharing tips and ideas along the way to help you stay motivated and keep moving.

Rewards

Will everyone receive rewards?

add remove

Rewards are available in limited quantities to ensure as much of the funds raised as possible go towards supporting and caring for more families with an ill or injured child through the most diffiuclt time of their lives.

Rewards will be allocated to participants who reach each fundraising milestone first, while stock lasts. Once all rewards have been distributed, they will no longer be available.

Can I buy the rewards?

add remove

We get it, the rewards are pretty great. However, they are not available for purchase.

The best way to earn them is through your fundraising. Consider making a donation to your own page or asking your network for support to help you reach your target faster.

Every dollar you raise helps put families at the heart of care, so it is a win win.

When will I receive my rewards?

add remove

You have earned it. Thank you for your incredible effort.

Rewards will be distributed weekly amongst McDonald's offices.

Can teams earn rewards together?

add remove

We love the team spirit, but rewards are earned individually.

Each participant needs to reach the fundraising target on their own page to unlock rewards, rather than relying on the team total.

Why not turn it into a bit of friendly competition and see who in your team can reach each milestone first while putting families at the heart of care?

Ronald McDonald House® Australia

What is Ronald McDonald House Australia?

add remove

Ronald McDonald House® is an independent, nonprofit organisation in Australia that cares for families when their child is ill or injured. We provide more than just a place to stay. We surround families with a community of support and the resources they need – a place to sleep, rest and play, keep working and learning, share a home cooked meal together, be comforted by other families who have been there, feel the warmth and support of our staff and volunteers, all close to the hospital - so they can stay at the heart of their child’s care and ensure the best possible health outcomes.

When a child is in hospital, having the love and support of their family is essential and both deserve to be surrounded by care. We know when a family is together, and cared for, they cope better.

Our essential services - Houses, Family Rooms, Family Hubs, Family Accommodation, Family Retreats, Learning Program and Hospitality Carts - remove barriers so families can stay together, stay strong and connected to everyday life, giving them something that feels like normal even when nothing else is. Our wrap-around care supports their physical, emotional and financial well-being, every step of the way, making their journey a little easier, so they can focus on caring for their child, when their child needs them the most.

We rely on funding from the community and many partners, including our Founding and Forever Partner McDonald's Australia, to help fund essential services for families, so they can stay at the heart of their child’s care and ensure the best possible outcomes.

McDonald’s commitment to serving communities has helped Ronald McDonald House positively impact millions of families and expand core Programs and services throughout Australia.

Together, we can support more families through a child’s healthcare journey.

When I donate, where does my money go?

add remove

All funds raised through Move for the House support families staying with Ronald McDonald House across Australia.

Your donation helps provide a place to stay, along with practical, emotional and financial support, so families can remain at the heart of care while their child receives hospital treatment.
